The great exodus has begun!

We were on the schedule this morning as a backup to the primary scheduled mission, and we got word at 7 am that we had been activated. So we spent the morning in a flurry of activity getting ready for our first pull-out flight! We’re departing two team members at a time, and Cindy and Ellen were the first to head out and should be landing at Willie Field in about an hour. There’s a non-zero chance that our Basler crew may be able to do a rapid turn-around and get back out here to pick up me (Nina) and Morgan–fingers crossed! If not we’ll have to stick it out for another night or so. Even though it’s been a lovely five weeks out here, I am starting to get jealous of all of my teammates who get to shower–in hot water that they didn’t have to chip and boil themselves–think of the luxury! Anyway we should know in ~1 h whether the next flight is on. We’ll keep you posted! –Posted by Nina in a much-reduced in size ANSMET camp, south Miller Range, 19 January 2016
