{"id":1659,"date":"2014-12-10T15:00:39","date_gmt":"2014-12-10T20:00:39","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/caslabs.case.edu\/ansmet\/?p=1659"},"modified":"2014-12-10T21:38:43","modified_gmt":"2014-12-11T02:38:43","slug":"waiting-for-a-plane-or-two-or-three","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/caslabs.case.edu\/ansmet\/2014\/12\/10\/waiting-for-a-plane-or-two-or-three\/","title":{"rendered":"Waiting for a plane (or two or three) (UPDATED)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>We&#8217;ve all experienced the &#8220;hurry up and wait&#8221; mode of travel, and that&#8217;s an apt description for where ANSMET stands right now. \u00a0All of our cargo is properly labelled and listed and ready to go on airplanes, so now we wait for our turn to fly. \u00a0 Scheduling aircraft is obviously challenging down here; \u00a0limited numbers of aircraft that must be meticulously maintained, weather that has to be taken very seriously, overworked schedulers and crews, and of course we&#8217;re only a small part of the many, many scientists waiting to get into the field. \u00a0We got our stuff together ahead of schedule, but now&#8230;.. \u00a0 if we&#8217;re lucky our first group may fly out to CTAM (an intermediate airport of sorts, a very good place for big planes to land about 100 miles from our final target Davis-Ward) on Saturday.
