Today was our first full day in McMurdo! \u00a0\u00a0It was a mighty fine and very full day with lots of training and lots of gear.\u00a0 From this newbie\u2019s perspective, the amount of both stuff and logistics is daunting.\u00a0 But, the wonderful McMurdo staff is always on hand to lend guidance about everything from how to troubleshoot our snow mobiles to how to operate the frosty boy.\u00a0 Our fearless leaders Johnny, Brian and Jim filled our exploding heads with information about many, many things:\u00a0 our kitchen gear, our snuggly sleeping gear (wiggie bears and snowie owls), our food planning and pulls, and our snow machines!\u00a0\u00a0 The snow mobile classroom training was fun, but the practical training provided insight into our future field personas (see image).\u00a0 Need I say more?\u00a0 Calling it a night \u2013we are still working through a bit of jet lag and the excitement of yesterday\u2019s flight.<\/p>\n
