New Zealand is a wonderful country and spending a week in Christchurch is hardly something to complain about, except we are so very eager to get to Antarctica to search for meteorites!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/artscimedia.case.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/111\/2019\/12\/09173824\/2CindyLibrary.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-3812 alignnone\" src=\"https:\/\/artscimedia.case.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/111\/2019\/12\/09173824\/2CindyLibrary.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"{WIDTH}\" height=\"{HEIGHT}\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-indent: 0.5in; margin: 0in 0in 8pt; line-height: 107%; font-size: 11pt; font-family: Calibri,sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; line-height: 107%;\">Our enthusiasm for ANSMET has led us to grasp onto anything related to Antarctica that we can find! It has become something of a scavenger hunt\u2026luckily, Christchurch and the Banks Peninsula have lots of contemporary and historical connections to Antarctica. We all regularly visit the memorial to Scott and reverently ponder his fate; this statue was sculpted by Scott\u2019s widow! Cindy and Nicole did a bit of reading in the Antarctica section of T<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; line-height: 107%;\">\u016b<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; line-height: 107%;\">ranga (the incredible Christchurch main public library).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/artscimedia.case.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/111\/2019\/12\/09173826\/5WhoseHand.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-3815 alignnone\" src=\"https:\/\/artscimedia.case.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/111\/2019\/12\/09173826\/5WhoseHand.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"{WIDTH}\" height=\"{HEIGHT}\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-indent: 0.5in; margin: 0in 0in 8pt; line-height: 107%; font-size: 11pt; font-family: Calibri,sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; line-height: 107%;\">We have explored the Antarctic exhibits of the Canterbury museum, which includes a section about ANSMET, an Allan Hills meteorite from 1979, and even a faded photograph from the field featuring a newly-found meteorite. We are still trying to guess whose hand is holding the field number in this photograph (John Schutt\u2019s hand?).
