We\u00a0completed the\u00a0planned frozen food &#8220;pull&#8221; yesterday, loaded 6 tri-walls (triple layered cardboard container on a pallet) with our gear, and entered all\u00a0 into the\u00a0&#8220;cargo stream&#8221;. It\u00a0is amazing to consider the entire supply and delivery chain that starts in the U.S. finding its way to all manner of\u00a0remote locations allowing groups like ours to\u00a0operate in Antarctica. Snowmobiles, tents, and sleeping bags all wing their way to CTAM, where we rendezvous with\u00a0these essential supplies.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Last evening\u00a0Manavi, Morgan, Alex, and I toured the pressure ridges near Scott Base.\u00a0The dynamic force of the\u00a0flowing Ross Ice shelf\u00a0creates\u00a0a microcosm of\u00a0tectonic features as it meets the sea ice and land.\u00a0The shelf ice folds into an undulating series of ridges as it scrums against Ross Island,\u00a0while the collision with the sea ice is evidenced by\u00a0an icy display of\u00a0subduction,\u00a0orogeny, and faulting\u00a0that\u00a0has an other worldly feel. This fracturing also allows Weddell seals to come to the surface and crawl out on the ice for a\u00a0nap.\u00a0Please enjoy Alex&#8217;s photo titled &#8220;Seal Face&#8221; (no that is not a reference to my handsome face)(also the photo was taken with telephoto lens at an appropriate distance for the animal).<\/div>\n<div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>This evening\u00a0half the team\u00a0performs\u00a0&#8220;bag drag&#8221;, where we present all our hand-carry items, ECW, as well as\u00a0ourselves to be\u00a0weighed in preparation for\u00a0tomorrow&#8217;s flight.
