I grew up in Michigan, enjoying the outdoors (usually fishing) when not studying. After obtaining my BS in chemistry from Michigan Technological University, I received my PhD in Inorganic Chemistry from Cornell University while studying with Professor Klaus Theopold<\/a>.\u00a0 I then did postdoctoral work with Professor Stephen J.
