Another packed day: the food pull

It was – literally – another packed day.  We spent the day ‘pulling’ and packing up our food for the next 6 weeks.  Fortunately, we each had two key aids in this daunting task:  a comprehensive food list of the available items we could choose from, and a tent-mate with whom we had carefully worked out recipes / proportions / eating predilections over the preceding several days.

Armed with our lists, we had the dry food pull in the morning.  That was rather fun (and warm).  Each tent ended up with about 3 coolers of dry food.

In the afternoon, we had the frozen food pull.  This was still fun although rather colder, as the frozen food containers were outside.  Again, each tent ended up with perhaps 3 cooler-sized containers of food.

Then we had to get the food into the cargo system.  This feat was accomplished largely by our mountaineers, Brian and Johnny, although we got to help out by loading the containers on pallets and strapping them down, before they were weighed and labelled.

So that critical factor was accomplished!  We’ll let you know how things taste in the field. . .
