Update for 2 December

Hello everyone,   I’m pretty sure the team made it to McMurdo yesterday based on the following email (slightly edited)  I got………

“………Welcome to McMurdo,

You are scheduled to attend a Field Support and Training (FS&T) Antarctic Field Safety course, Thursday, December 3. You need to be at the FS&T classroom (upstairs in the SSC/Bldg 4) at 1:00 pm. Please be on time! You may be able to leave early if you don’t require the Sea Ice portion.

Course Schedule:

1:00-3:45   Antarctic survival skills, personal well-being, and risk-management theory

3:55-4:15   Helicopter info

4:20-5:00   Sea Ice refresher

The course will be held completely indoors.”

Sigh.   Some of you old timey vets will remember when we pretty much took care of ourselves.  In today’s world,  the ANSMET team faces one of its most dangerous challenges- staying awake during 20 hrs of required and oddly scheduled meetings, where sometimes only the pure of heart can find relevance.

Anyway,  I bet we hear more from them shortly.
