Flurries of activity

white-mcmurdo

A view of Mt. Discovery, the Ross Sea and the Transantarctic Mountains.  Same view Duck and John and Brian saw two weeks ago.

With the entire field team here,  today was a flurry of activity.  And speaking of flurries, it’s been snowing all day.  McMurdo is pretty with a little bit of fresh snow around,  but this weather has shut down the town, at least in terms of flying.   But we weren’t flying today anyway- this was the day for filling big cardboard boxes with tent kits and other gear, medium-sized plastic boxes with dry food, coolers with frozen food  and getting it all formally into the cargo system.  Most of us are pretty tired tonight (or at least I’m very tired and saying everyone else is too), and everyone is feeling pretty accomplished.  We’ve got more of the same tomorrow, but we’re close to simply being done, and then waiting for a few planes.
