Team dinner for the six arrivals to NZ where conversation included the intricacies of life in a Scott tent, specifically, the dodos and don’ts.

With John and Brian in McMurdo, the rest of us arrived in Christchurch this morning right on schedule with all our equipment in tow (minus a power adapter I donated to a plug by Gate 32 at Auckland airport, whoops!). Today we repacked/reorganized our gear and got ready for the days ahead. James survived being beer deprived over a 9 km walk to the city center for a restaurant that Barb recommended – which, I might add, did not disappoint. The great conversation, many laughs (mostly at my expense), and the late dusk made 21:00 jump up on us. Tomorrow morning we’re picking up the rest of our gear and should have the afternoon to do final preparations before a Thursday departure to McMurdo, if all goes well.
