4 Down, 4 To Go

View of McMurdo from Hut Point Ridge Loop Trail. The big blue building houses the galley, gift shop, craft room, etc., the 4 brown buildings are our dorms, the big pointy hill is Observation Hill, the distant white mountain on the right is White Island, and Nicole is in the lower left.

This morning (Dec. 28th), Nicole, Lauren, and Alex caught a flight south to join Johnny at Davis Ward! The Basler returned to McMurdo yesterday, so the 7 of us enjoyed our last meal together in McMurdo. Unfortunately, the weather at the fuel cache today does not look good, so the Basler had to drop some weight to make it from McMurdo to Davis Ward without refueling. Because it is carrying 1 less snow machine, tent, and a few other things, we will need a total of 3 flights to get everything and everyone to Davis Ward. The weather looks similar for tomorrow, so the plan is that Cindy and I, along with 3 snow machines and other gear, will be flying tomorrow morning. The following day (Dec. 30th), Marc and Brian are planning to travel to Davis Ward with the remaining equipment necessary to make this field season a success. We hope to be reunited with our fellow teammates soon! We have truly enjoyed our home for the past 2 weeks (pictured below) and are excited to call a yellow tent our home soon.
