For those of you who need translation; the Basler is a re-engineered DC-3 (or C-47) that’s become the workhorse for deep field put-ins with plentiful cargo, or a group flying a long way from home, or both. The BKBBUx designation can be partially deciphered as Ken Borek Basler “B”, with the “2” meaning we were first backup today. SuperTIGER II is a long-duration balloon payload recovery mission; those tend to come down in very inconvenient places so I’m guessing they’re looking for a dropped payload. And DJ is short for “Derelict Junction”, the closest thing to a bus-stop you can find in McMurdo.

woohoo from Erin….
Additional note from Ralph: if the crew’s duty day is long enough we might get lucky and get a couple of flights in. The DW round trip is about a half day. Everybody send your woohoos and other positive vibes southward please!
