Brian, Jim, John, and I went on a reconnaissance trip today. We took a Basler flight to Iggy Ridge in the North Miller Range so the pilots could check the status of the runway. They haven't landed there recently and wanted to try it with a light load of cargo before we put our whole team in with all our gear. The runway looked great! We hopped over to CTAM where the 2014-2015 ANSMET team had left a cache of food, fuel, tools, and meteorite collection supplies. One Basler flight (full to the gills!) was sufficient to get all these toys to Iggy Ridge so now we can put our team straight in there without stopping at CTAM. That means more time to find meteorites – hooray!! We (Brian, Jim, Nina, and I) are a back-up to a back-up Basler flight tomorrow morning, which means if the weather is exceptional in the Miller Range tomorrow – as it was today – and terrible elsewhere on continent, we might be setting up shop in North Miller tomorrow. Keep your fingers crossed!
