What We Do
Our research in the Neurodevelopment Research Lab is centered on examining behavior and cognition of individuals with neurodevelopmental disorders. Specifically, we are interested in understanding why people who have the same genetic developmental disorder have many of the same behavioral characteristics, why some characteristics vary within a genetic population, and what neurobiological mechanisms account for these behaviors.
We are currently conducting studies to assess social-cognitive processing in individuals with Prader-Willi Syndrome, individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorders, and typically developing children. Additionally, the NRL is developing and piloting interventions and training programs for children with PWS and their parents to increase interaction and social-emotional understanding while decreasing problem behaviors.
