Resources for families

Information about child development, autism, and developmental language disorder, and what it looks like to take part in research with us.

Worried about your child's development?

Trust your instincts. Talk with your child's doctor and ask for a developmental screening.

Under age 3: In Ohio, anyone can refer a child to Ohio Early Intervention for a free evaluation. Call 1-800-755-4769.

Age 3 and older: Contact your local public school district and ask for an evaluation for preschool special education services.

Please note: The LAMB Lab is a research lab, not a clinic. We cannot provide diagnoses, therapy, or individual advice. The resources on this page are a good place to start.

What research with us looks like

  • Sessions with children are play-based, using blocks, pegboards, and other toys.
  • Caregivers may be asked to complete questionnaires or share their experiences in an interview.
  • You can take breaks, skip questions, or stop at any time.
  • We compensate families for their time.
  • All studies are reviewed and approved by Case Western Reserve University's Institutional Review Board.
