Our work day began early with a Twin Otter plane buzzing our tents at 8:15 in the morning – this was before we expected it to arrive. We hustled out to meet it and went to work unloading its cargo. We are getting good with this. Two more flights later this morning and our entire team and all our cargo was at Davis-Ward, our final destination. Aside from unloading, we spent the morning helping the new arrivals set up their tents. After a long lunch break, we spent the afternoon organizing our camp, setting up solar panels for power and preparing the snowmobiles for work tomorrow. This preparation included stowing survival gear and emergency food in and on the snowmobiles as well as getting them fueled. After dinner we had a team meeting to talk about meteorite collection in Antarctica and go over the plan for tomorrow. At the end of the meeting, Johnny read to us from the dairies of Shackleton, Scott and Amundsen. It was very interesting to hear what they were doing on December 20th during their treks over a hundred years ago.
