White Christmas

Today, on January 5, we were all finally together in the field, we were all well, and we couldn’t go out and work, so we had Christmas! We cooked some tasty pizzas using the ingredients we had on hand, since only about half of our food boxes are out now and the pizza sauce is in “another” box (that’s a running theme – Where is the x? It’s in the other box…). But our improvised pizzas were actually really good – there was a chicken pesto mozzarella and a pepperoni salsa cheddar (don’t knock it til you try it – and thanks, Cecilia, for the salsa!). We also opened our gifts to each other, from Ralph, from Cecilia, and some from our own families. Highlights were Buzz Lightyear boots for Johnny and Davy Jones knitted face mask hats from Ralph (Did he knit these himself?? I’m really going to try this in the field, it will make a great wind baffle!) penguin cross stitch (thanks, Cecilia!), and bacon lip balm. We also played some Yahtzee and Cards Against ANSMET (thanks, Nina!!), a nd it was Brian’s night for both. It was all very festive and fun to be together. And what’s more, we had a truly white Christmas – when I say we couldn’t work, it’s because there is six new inches of snow on the ice, and snow is still falling. Please do your wind dances so we can get a stiff south breeze asap to get the rest of our flights in and uncover our meteorites! Many thanks to all of you for thinking of us on Christmas and the rest of the season while we’re out here! – Jani 5 January 2017 PS – Here’s a shout out to Mr. Rad’s Bonneville Elementary Sixth Grade! Think of your questions for when I visit in a couple of months.
