Our very own Dr. Tolbert has been selected as the Inaugural Vice President of Science Leadership and Culture at the Howard Hughes Medical Institute (HHMI) in Chevy Chase, Maryland! As a world-renowned biophysical chemist, his research expertise on understanding the molecular mechanisms of RNA viruses makes him perfectly suited for the role. More recently, he has collaborated with colleagues at Duke and Rutgers in order to develop compounds with the potential to delay or halt the replication of SARS-CoV-2. Dr. Tolbert plans to maintain his research laboratory at the CWRU Department of Chemistry while serving at HHMI.
