The outbreak of this disease has led to millions of infections and hundreds of thousands of deaths worldwide. SARS-CoV-2 is the seventh coronavirus known to infect humans, and, like other coronaviruses, it is a positive-sense, single-stranded RNA ((+)ssRNA) virus.
